Howdy -- Virtualmin doesn't have support yet for Ubuntu 18.04, but once it does, we'll post an announcement and list it here:

Any ETA on this? I know virtualmin works with it (ubuntu 18.04) as I did an in-place upgrade of 16.04 to 18.04 and virtualmin kept working.

Maybe that path is your best bet for now. 18.04 has been out for like, a day. Give the guys a chance. :)

18.04 has indeed been released fairly recently, tho detection of the OS itself is already present, hence I had the idea all would work "out-of-the-box".

Guess for now its eighter 16.04 to 18.04 or do the manual setup (like for those OS-es that are no supported by Virtualmin via the install script.

FYI, 16.04 to 18.04 dist-upgrade for Ubuntu typically is not made available until version 18.04.1. THE (.1) version. And is normally several months after release.

And 18.04 networking config is completely different so it wont work out of the box with virtualmin. Although, from the docs, it looks like there is option to go back to using /etc/network/interfaces for configuring network. But havent tried yet.

@scotwnw is correct -- 18.04 uses netplan for IP configuration, this is no doubt giving virtualmin headaches.

I'm sooooo sick of Debian / Ubuntu changing fundamental stuff like network configuration every couple of releases. I have derived zero benefit from systemd, and have known it to crash boot. Netplan just makes another mess out of what was a perfectly fine-working network config.

fyi I have successfully installed virtualmin on ubuntu18 (cloudinit) today, no real issues other than the installation of mysql instead of mariadb and apparent lack of ufw support.

@simon.b where did you try to install the Virtualmin and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS? I testes in on DigitalOcean, and all looks OK, however I will install it on production server tonight - OVH, fingers crossed

hi sz00gun, sorry for my late answer, i have install it on a dedicated server from "Hetzner" with Ubuntu 16.04works perfectly... but with 18.04 i have use the step 3 from this tutorial: https://websiteforstudents.com/install-webmin-virtualmin-on-ubuntu-16-04... only step 3 is enought and the installation is perfect. no errors.. but after updates with reboot the server dosn't works, it is online but i can't login, ssl dosn't work, nothing.. no responds.. i think, it is a network error on ubuntu 18.04 this network option is not 100% compatible with virtualmin... the only solution: install new ubuntu an install all new, after 3x ubuntu 18.04 with the same effect i have installed 16.04 and it works.. :( but i need in future ubuntu 18.04

UPDATE: This effect come not only after reboots, a sample: u have a host with 1gb in u virtualmin... u forget to give more gb(5,10gb...) i load a 2gb database and the same effect, the server time out, not respond... reboot doesn't help, ssl connection is impossible, the only solution from remote: new install ... after this operation is the server broken with ubuntu 18.04 & virtualmin

horror days on my work ...
