MYSQL PHP

I am getting php connect error when I try to access a SQL database. Based on what I have read, mysql is not enabled in my php setup but I have not yun installs for php and php-mysql. After this, still no go. I need to know the step that I am missing to allow mysql to work through php.

I noticed that the configure command says without mysql and I assume that to be the problem, but I do not know how to change that.
