Configure SpamAssassin When Run Stand Alone Server?

I used to run the low memory Virtualmin config on my VPSs, but I got a VPS with more memory and fewer sites, so I am trying pre-loading libraries and running the standalone spam and virus servers. Unfortunately, I have noticed a huge increase in the spam that gets through the system. Is there a good resource on how to tune the standalone scanners?
