php problems on fresh install

Fresh install of virtualmin/webmin on Ubuntu 8.04 on a VPS with 20GB HDD, 512MB RAM (openVZ)

I'm trying to install wordpress and all I get is blank pages after I input my username/database info

I'm also having trouble with a lot of php scripts such as the status script from WHMCS..

Suggestions?

I did a fresh install after running updates using the install.sh script.

Also this is on a separate domain from the hostname on a "virtual server"
