Help with postfix

In regards to virtualmin, im a newb, but with linux, im a moderately(5 out of 10) knowledgeable user

Now, i know that to some extent that this is a postfix question, but the reason i ask here is because i dont know what this means

A problem was found with your Postfix virtual maps : No map sources were found in the Postfix configuration

.. your system is not ready for use by Virtualmin.

there are multiple areas for mappings in the postfix configuration and i dont know which one, i also dont know at all what a postfix map is, or what they look like. i dont even know the file extension.

If you need me to clarify anything, i can, the reason this looks so bad grammatically is because its late.

but i just want a pointer, what to do, maybe a little walkthrough, and this topic getting stickied for future users.

I have experimented with virtualmin 2 times, and each time i have come accross this same problems, so i am very greatfull for all the help that can be given.

In the main.cf of postfix ( webmin - servers - postfix - Edit Config Files) you probably want to have the following line:

virtual_alias_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/virtual

Caribooredneck

I am having the same problems, as well.

Ronald commented about having the line "virtual_alias_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/virtual"

Mine reads "virtual_alias_maps = proxy:mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql-virtual_forwardings.cf, mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql-virtual_email2email.cf"

Do I replace it, or have I screwed up somewhere?

Any help would be great!

Thanks, in advance

Keith

you can comment the existing line out with a # and add the one I proposed earlier, then see how it goes.

Ronald,

I'm having the same issue as these two posters.

I've commented out the original virtual_alias_maps line (it was the same as Caribooredneck) and added your recommended line and get the same results...

'A problem was found with your Postfix virtual maps : No map sources were found in the Postfix configuration

.. your system is not ready for use by Virtualmin."

What else can you suggest?

Thanks,

Dana

Edit: As I read further I found that Virtualmin on Ubuntu 9.10 is not actually supported but is on the 8.04 LTS. So I am starting over with the LTS and the install.sh. Thanks, Dana
