Let's encrypt announced that they will start wildcard support January 2018, that's will be the next month, will Virtualmin will be able to issue the let's encrypt wildcard certificates ? I hope so , I'm sure virtualmin able to do that, everyone see the great improvements happened the last year which make Virtualmin the best control panel platform
Thank you so much
Hi,
What's equally exciting is that the Apache web server is getting a module written for implementing LE natively which means we won't have to rely on extra software to get LE certs in the future.
That said, when it's appropriate the team will likely implement whatever features are appropriate.

Wildcard support is now live for Let's Encrypt!
https://community.letsencrypt.org/t/acme-v2-and-wildcard-certificate-sup...
I am not sure if there is a way to run it on Virtualmin yet? Still get this warning when *.yourdomain.com is added to the SSL domain list:
A domain name cannot start with *. To create a wildcard domain, first create it without the * and then go to Server Configuration -> Website Options.
Have marked "Website matches all sub-domains" to "Yes" under Server Configuration -> Website Options, but I do not think this is relevant here? This will be a huge feature to have, thank you.
Does anyone know if generating Lets Encrypt Wildcard certificates are supported in Virtualmin yet? Or if when they will be supported, and what version of Virtualmin? Any details on that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
@alsemany, @Schalk, @rjrsinc,
Thanks for bringing this matter to our attention, and keeping the topic fresh. I'm going forward this up the chain of command so that it can receive appropriate attention.
As there are lots of things being constantly implemented, and improved, I cannot provide at this time a specific timeframe or version for which the newly version of Lets Encrypt will be implemented, however I can assure you that the team will be aware and likely start planning it's implementation in the not to distant future.
Thanks again for contributions from the 3 of you, we appreciate the effort!

Hi,
Great news, Jamie has confirmed that the new Let's Encrypt protocol is being implemented into Virtualmin. Due to the changes to the protocol, it may take some time to implement, however as promised, the team is aware, and working towards making the new functionality possible.

Hi all,
Wanted to add one more remark on this topic. the End of life has not been set yet for ACMEv1 API. But knowing Letsencrypt they will probably announce soon after they are convinced the ACMEv2 is solid enough and backed by the community. They are smart, very smart and the less they have to maintain the better quality they can provide.
So my point is I don't know how long it will take to start/finalise the implementation. But my advise would be to not wait until they have set the end of life since at that point your testing will be put under pressure by a lot of variables.
And its a huge bullet point for potential users to move over to WM/VM right. At this moment we ourselves have created a workaround to have the ACMEv2 live with wildcards. But as I mentioned its a workaround. And I don't like workarounds its just one more topic to keep your eyes on. I rather work with community backed solutions to get a good discussion going on and create awesome solutions ^^.
Thats all,

I'm waiting very long for this integration, since it gives a lot of usability to virtualmin. Never worry about limited certificates for subdomains, just update once a certificate for all subdomains. Very powerful!
Please integrate it as soon as possible :) can't wait to try it.
Best regards, D.B.
@dblatner,
As mentioned earlier, it is on the todo list, however since there are significant changes between the protocols, it will take some time to complete the update. Also, as with all new things, there is a period in the early adopter stages where changes to the protocol may occur which need to be considered.
Rest Assured, the Virtualmin team is aware of Acme v2 and it'll be rolled out once the updates are ready.

This has been my #1 wanted feature for quite some time now.
Any news about that? I'm really waiting for this and I guess I'm not the only one :)

Status? regards Mattias
I've searched the forums and support along with the Internets for any more news on this feature, but came up with nothing.
Is there any update on when Let's Encrypt wildcard DNS will be available through Virtualmin?
Just commenting so I can receive replies to this.
Looks like there haven't been any updates here in a couple months. This topic is coming up on a one year anniversary. Any updates for this? This would be extraordinarily useful for running WordPress multisite installations on top of VirtualMin.
Sorry guys, this is on the list, but we don't yet have an ETA.
-Eric
Also eagerly awaiting this feature
I would like this feature also.
Ditto
Someone didn't read the release announcement for Virtualmin 6.05. (Hint: It's in there.)
