Hi there,
I have a domain on a Virtualmin server which I decided to point to CloudFlare's service (the free account for now). When I finished all the necessary DNS changes in CloufFlare and the registrar I noticed that doing a DNS test of the domain via intodns.com is shows the following:
-- ERROR: Recursive Queries I could use the nameservers listed below to performe recursive queries. It may be that I am wrong but the chances of that are low. You should not have nameservers that allow recursive queries as this will allow almost anyone to use your nameservers and can cause problems. Problem record(s) are: 173.245.59.115
I did not have this error before pointing the domain to the DNS server hosted with virtualmin. Is this normal?
Your help is much appreciated! N
Is this normal? No.
Should you care? No.
I tested different cloudflare domains and they all give the same error. Then I tested domains running on my own DNS servers and results are perfect. So this seem like an issue with CloudFlare and the way they have their setup. It should not affect you in anyway or your domain, they are running the DNS queries for you, its not an incorrect setup in Virtualmin or even related to the software.
If you are using CloudFlare you can now turn BIND off in Virtualmin to save resources, assuming you are not using the DNS in your server anymore.
