Hey,
Just beginner with Virtualmin but i really appreciate it and so I'd like to plan my next move in my infrastructure. For now I have one phyysical Ubuntu server with Virtualmin pro installed on it. I'd like for next move be able to add additional physical servers running Virtualmin and be able to manage everything from one interface and also for customers get only one URL for control panel whatever physical server hosts them ! Is it possible with Cloudmin ? and if so what would I need as licence ? one Cloudmin basic licence for master server I guess but do I need one also for "slave" servers ? Is it possible also to upgrade an existing Virtualmin server to become also Cloudmin master without destroying the Virtualmin part already installed ?
Thanks for all your answers, as I didn't get all points by reading documentation and I want to be sure I'm not doing mistakes :)

Howdy,
I'd like for next move be able to add additional physical servers running Virtualmin and be able to manage everything from one interface
That will indeed work for the Master Admin (root in most cases).
and be able to manage everything from one interface and also for customers get only one URL for control panel whatever physical server hosts them
That unfortunately won't work... the users would need to log into their specific Virtualmin instance.
However, remember that any domain that's setup in Virtualmin is setup with a "admin.domain.tld" alias that redirects to Virtualmin... so a user doesn't need to remember anything but their own domain name.
and if so what would I need as licence
Cloudmin GPL can only manage Xen or KVM Virtual Machines on one host. It doesn't have the functionality to tie in multiple Virtualmin versions.
So you would indeed need Cloudmin Pro for what you're describing above.
one Cloudmin basic licence for master server I guess but do I need one also for "slave" servers
It doesn't sound like you're looking to setup Virtual Machines... so one Cloudmin for Physical Systems license would do the trick. You don't need an additional license for systems it manages.
Is it possible also to upgrade an existing Virtualmin server to become also Cloudmin master without destroying the Virtualmin part already installed
Sure. Cloudmin is a Webmin module, and can co-exist alongside Virtualmin (even if Virtualmin is already installed).

right, I forgot about this, so it'll hide to end users fact of which of my servers is the one hosting his website :)

Thanks so I just need to add a basic Cloudmin licence to my existing Virtualmin server to make it master, and then each additional physical server will only need one Virtualmin licence and be setup to link to Cloudmin master, right ?
The Cloudmin xx instance licence is only for virtualisation, right ?
Thanks for your time and your clear explanations ;)
Vincèn
Yup, you would just need a "Cloudmin for Physical Systems" license, which is $79 for the first year, and $48/year for renewals.
You don't even need a paid Virtualmin license for the systems Cloudmin manages. It will gladly manage both Pro and GPL systems.
But you would indeed want some form of Virtualmin installation on those systems.
If you have any other questions, feel free to let us know!

Hum just to be sure I understand well !! Does it mean I just need to buy a Cloudmin for Physical systems for master server to get Cloud features and also Virtualmin running as Pro version, and on other servers linked in Cloud I'll get also Virtualmin pro features just by fact it's linked to Cloudmin master ?
Thanks for clarification ;) because I already bought a Virtualmin pro licence for my master server !!
Vincèn
You wouldn't receive Virtualmin Pro features just by having Cloudmin.
If you link Cloudmin to a Virtualmin GPL server, you could still manage aspects of that server from within Cloudmin -- but only features in Virtualmin GPL would be available to you.
It's up to you whether you use Virtualmin Pro or Virtualmin GPL alongside Cloudmin... it's just that if you use Virtualmin GPL, you don't get the nifty things available in Virtualmin Pro :-)
I hope that makes more sense!
-Eric
Thanks Eric for all details, I now get a perfect picture of the whole system and I'll continue with Pro versions as it gets added nifty things and security of pro support :) and it's my way also to reward developpers for such great tool :)
Best,
