What updates? You haven't told us anything about them. ;-)

But, generally, we recommend (strongly) that you always run the latest available version of every package on your system. Security depends on it.

If you have third party repositories configured, this advice must be tempered with the warning that third party repos don't generally have the same compatibility and stability policies as CentOS/RHEL, and so upgrading could very well break stuff. If you avoid third party repos, this isn't a concern, and you should definitely run the latest version of everything.

I don't know what "crash my server" means exactly here...a kernel crash? Did one or more of your services shutdown? This list does include a kernel update, so you should proceed with caution the next time you reboot, and make sure you have either access to the console, or someone who does have access to the console who can rollback to a previous kernel in the event of trouble.

So, for future reference, the longer you wait between updates the more likely said updates are to cause breakage. On a CentOS/RHEL system, problems should *never* happen. But, the more updates there are, the more likely breakage will occur...and when it does occur it's harder to know why, because you just updated 151 packages! If you update three packages, it's easy to figure out problems, because there's only three possible sources of new trouble. If you update 151 packages...well, things could get confusing fast.

These all look like CentOS stock packages. So, you should be running them. It is dangerous to run old versions of software on a networked server with shared resources and world facing services.
