Updating to the latest version?

Hi, is there a way to update Webmin to the latest version? I have version 3.56gpl and would like to update my version to a more recent one so that I can get multiple SSL sites on a single IP address.

I don't see any kind of update button, and my searching of this site did not turn up any directions on how to update your version without wiping out your settings through a reinstall. (Sorry if my searching abilities are severely stunted here...)

For Webmin, you just click the update button, and everything happens magically in the background, no sweat. Haven't found a similar button for Virtualmin.

Thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction!

That depends on how you installed Virtualmin. If you installed it using the install.sh script we provide, then you will already have the Virtualmin Security Updates module...and if you're using the Virtualmin Framed Theme, you'll have a Virtualmin Updates section on the System Information page. Since that's pretty much impossible to miss, I'll assume you didn't install using our install script, and instead installed it manually.

In that case, you have a couple of options:

Download the new version and install it using the Webmin Modules module. This will not overwrite you settings or virtual servers. Just be sure to use the same package type you used to install it initially (.wbm, RPM, or deb).

If you want to be notified of new versions, you can install the security-updates module. How you configure this module depends on whether you installed using the appropriate package type for your OS, or you used the .wbm module (it'll work with any kind of package--but it does need explicit configuration, if you use wbm packages).

Howdy,

I also wanted to point out that allowing multiple SSL sites on one IP address only works if you have a wildcard SSL certificate.

That is, the rule remains one SSL certificate per IP address -- but with wildcard SSL certificates, a certificate can apply to multiple domain names.

Of course, just yell if you have any questions or trouble getting it working.
