Virtualmin

The status of your system is being checked to ensure that all enabled features are available, that the mail server is properly configured, and that quotas are active .. BIND DNS server is installed, and the system is configured to use it. Mail server Sendmail is installed and configured. Apache is installed. MySQL is installed and running. Logrotate is installed. No Ethernet interface could be automatically found on your system. Use the module configuration page to set the interface manually. .. your system is not ready for use by Virtualmin.

I bought a VPS and have spent the last week trying to configure it. Have webmin installed, trying to install virtualmin...but I don't know what that error means...could you give me some help?

ah...lifes...good

<div class='quote'>No Ethernet interface could be automatically found on your system.</div>

It could mean that:
1. You don't have a network cable connected to your server; or,
2. You have a network cable connected to your server but your network card isn't correctly configured to connect to the network/Internet.

You should get your hosting company to configure the network interface (eth0) for you.

If you are doing it yourself, you need these info:
1. IP address for your server
2. Gateway IP
3. Netmask

Go to Webmin and find the link to Network Configuration. Configure or add a network interface. Consult http://doxfer.com/Webmin/NetworkConfiguration

No, we're here. It's only been one day (and one of those days was the weekend). ;-)

This is due to the fact that many VPS systems use some name for their network interfaces other than ethX. No big deal, you just have to tell Virtualmin what it's called. Edit your module configuration, find the option labeled &quot;Network interface for virtual addresses&quot;, and switch it from &quot;Detect Automatically&quot; to the text field, and fill in the name of your network interface.
