I am getting localhost.localdomain as the nameserver in SOA record instead of the actual FQDN of the server when I create a new domain using Virtualmin command line API or Virtualmin web interface.
My question is how do I make the actual FQDN to be the default nameserver in SOA?
The result of hostname -f is ns4.hostlawn.com

Howdy -- if you look in System Settings -> Server Templates -> Default -> BIND DNS Domain, what is "Master DNS server hostname" set to?
Ah, it was localhost...
Should I change to automatic or set it to what I want?

Well, just to verify -- is your own server functioning as a nameserver? If so, then you may want to set it to "ns4.hostlawn.com".
I do want it to serve as a nameserver. I hope it is. HOw do I verify if it is really serving as a nameserver?

You can determine that by looking at the nameserver(s) being used by your domains at the domain name registrar.
If the nameservers at the registrar are names that point to this server, then it's being used as a nameserver.
If you'd like a hand determining that, let us know an example of a domain name that you are hosting.
